Data on the top dealers, make and models, website and sales trends.
This report tells you over the last 6 months what the performance trend of sales was by type of UK used car dealer. Either independent, supermarket or franchise dealers. Online dealers will follow soon.
Independent: Dealers that are not affiliated with any car manufacturers, in general independent
dealers do not sell any new cars and only sell used cars. Independent dealerships are usually smaller
but may also have thousands of cars in stock.
Franchise: Franchise dealers work in conjunction with car brands and can sell new, used and
approved used cars from manufacturers. Individual dealership locations will usually have names with the
car brand name in it like: John Doe Nissan.
Supermarket: Car Supermarkets are usually also independent dealers but generally have many more
cars on offer. Usually appealing to a broader customer base, with much more choice of different brands
and specification usually focusing on the most popular models in the UK.
Online only: Online only car dealers are the newest type of car dealer. However, there are not
many of them to choose from at the moment, but it appears that more will be opening soon. In general,
these dealers stocks are similar to car supermarkets.
