Dealer History

The story of the Hawkins Motor Group began back in 1933 when William Henry Hawkins founded a company that is still very much successful today. The company's beginnings are tied to the Scott Squirrel engine model that Hawkins sold to start the business. Since it was in deplorable condition fifty years after its sale, this legendary motorcycle had to undergo a thorough restoration. Today it is exhibited in the British Hawkins Motorcycle Museum in St Stephan.

Hawkins worked diligently on his work, and diligent work brought good results. In 1940, the company expanded its activities, so in addition to trading motorcycles, they also started trading tractors.

In 1946, the company became the official agent of the British motorcycle brands such as Arial, BSA, Norton, Vincent, Scott and AJS. However, that was not the end of the company's success. In 1972, the company was appointed as the principal dealer of the Peugeot model in Cornwall and expansion continued over much of St Stephen's territory.

Today, the company is considered a respectable company with a large number of employees and a large number of agencies. The company also owns the right to represent trucks of the following manufacturers, Peugeot, Citroën, Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi.

The company is engaged in the distribution of used cars as well, so there are over 1000 models in stock. The business has spread to multiple locations in Truro, Penryn, Hayle and Launceston St Stephen, St Austell, Blackwater.
