Dealer History

Dick Lovett is a family-run business maintaining the name of its founder who started it all over half a decade ago. At the very beginning, Dick Lovett was selling motorcycles and traded under the name of Ross Motors. Motorcycles were not his main passion; he was actually a sports car fanatic and began selling them to fellow enthusiasts. He opened his first showroom in Swindon in 1957 and in 1959 he set up his first dealership. With the support of his wife Stella, it was in 1966 that he began trading from the family home near Swindon, and also brought the name closer to home too by deciding to trade under his own name. Although small in its size at the time, Dick Lovett Specialist Cars were selling cars such as Lamborghini Miura and Ferrari 250 SWB among others.

Son, Pete Lovett picked up his dad’s passion and would follow along in his footsteps in the business, becoming the company’s chairman in 1966. Although for Pete, he did not stop at selling, he also wanted to further into the realms of the sports cars world and decided to race them professionally. He made his racing debut in 1976 competing in a Porsche and continued for 10 years before deciding to solely concentrate on running the business.

Still in the family today, Dick Lovett has been serving the South-West and Wales for over 50 years now. They represent many of the premium brands including Aston Martin, BMW, BMW Motorrad, Jaguar, MINI, Land Rover and Porsche. Their official dealerships operate out of Bath, Bristol, Swindon, Hungerford, Tewkesbury and Cardiff.
